Kefiloe Siwisa is a cultural artist based in Johannesburg. Her practice is grounded in “curatorial consciousness”, an approach that prioritises empathy, collective presencing and (rest)oration.
Most recently, Kefiloe was the project coordinator and curatorial assistant for Reimagining Heritage, Archives and Museums: Today/Tomorrow at the Institut Français d’Afrique du Sud. She is currently part of the British Council and Lux Art Exchange’s Moving Image cohort.
Kefiloe has worked across Canada, Italy, Morocco, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States, in positions including senior associate at Stevenson Gallery, lead curator of the Turbine Art Fair, assistant curator of 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair’s public programmes and curatorial fellow for the Institute for Creative Arts (ICA) Live Art Festival in Cape Town.
She is co-founder of Queertopia.za, a queer-centred music festival. She also holds a Master of Fine Arts in Curating from Goldsmiths University of London and a Bachelor’s Degree in Drama, Art History and Visual Culture from the University of Cape Town.
